friday morning

I was so sleepy today as i slept at about 3.30am last night.Thus,i woke up late at 6.30am.So,i was hurried to go to Miss Dilla class at 8am.Miss Dilla came in just after i tried to continue my sleep.At that time,most of the boys still not arrived and class was just filled with the girls.Miss Dilla told us that she was watching movie last night,the newest movie,transformer 3.I did not know anything about the movie but she said that it was great and awesome.The new information for us too that Michael Jackson died this morning.About our lesson today,we learned passive voice that was more formal and more appropriate to use it with the patients rather than active voice.Active voice was often used when professional were speaking to other professionals.We also read the referral letter and underlined the passives in it.lesson 5 titled 'it might be multiple sclerois'.For this lesson,we heard the disk about Robert reports on the main symptoms of several diseases.For example,the symptoms of chronic tetanus was stiffness of neck and fatigue for multiple sclerosis.Next,we arranged the paragraph of report in the correct order.In the group,we discussed the differential diagnosis of a male patient.The illnes given were pleuritis,pulmonary embolism,myocardial infarction,pericarditis and gastrosophageal reflux.Then,we made the follow up question and Miss Dilla wrote some tests that would be useful for the illness.We ended up the class a bit early on this 'barakah' day.........wassalam.

Unit 3

Breaking bad news...First of all,Miss Dilla asked us to make a group.In the group,we brainstormed as many words as possible related to pain.We got words such as ill,operation,tense,fatal,disease and others.After that,we matched columns about features of pain,the main question and the follow up questions.We also classified the words in the box to the correct columns about the intensity of pain whether severe or mild and the character of pain.Some of the words were blunt,stabbing,dull and intense.Then,we arranged the sentences using the word order that were intensity,character,location and duration.For example,The patient has dull aching pain in his back that has lasted for three weeks.We heard the disk and guessed whether the sentence were supporting tone or accusing tone.The communication tip said that it is not what you say,it is how you say it.We practised to use the supporting tone and accusing tone using the same sentence in the group.Phrasal verbs was better than equivalent verbs when speaking with the patients as that were more informal.The example for the words, get over,give up,keep on and hold out.Besides that, we learned question tags can be either confirmation or question.The class ended.....Wassalam.

Lesson 4 unit 2

I would like to ask you a few question was the title for the lesson.first,we read medical screening exam for Louise Tolan.We were asked by Miss Dilla to wrote a question at the whiteboard.Everybody wrote that and Miss Dilla checked them.There were a lot of grammar mistakes for that.I was also confused about the using of does,did and other word.Then,we assumed the disease of Louise by comparing the signs and symptoms given for asthma,cystic fibrosis,bronchiolitis,croup and aspiration of foreign body.We also make exercise of using most appropriate word or expression to use with patients.The word must sound less scary to the patients.For example, remove the swelling was better than cut out the tumor.Next,we arranged the processes of lumbar puncture procedure in the correct order.We decided which disease is suitable with the results of the lab test that was about bacterial meningitis.

Working under pressure

Miss Dilla came very early to the class as she said that she did not want to face the traffic jam.One of the most terrific thing was traffic jam especially at the town such as Shah Alam.Only few students in the class at that time.So,Miss Dilla gave some objectives of the lesson that day to fill the time.Then,as the time arrived,lesson was started.Unit 2 was about the condition in the emergency room.We listened to the conversation between Robert and Jenny.Then,wrote the advise Jenny gave to Robert.There were tips for using the telephone in a foreign language such as ask if do not understand what the person talk about.For lesson 2,we did some grammar exercise and matched lay term with medical term.We also learned the discharge instruction and practicing it by doing the role play .The title for lesson 3 was has he ever fainted before as there was the case study of Mr Legrange.Again,we did grammar exercise about past perfect tense.Next,we read two articles titled Anaphylactic shock and Scombroid Toxicity to answer the questions below.That was the end of the lesson that day.Wassalam......

Last two lesson in chapter 1

Today was a nice day although it was little hot in the class as two airconditioner at the front was not functioning.Miss Dilla came in with happy face and big smile while asking that she was in the right class and right timing.We all just answer yes.Without wasting time,we continuing with the lesson 5 titled `let me explain your diet`.We read the text and answered the following question about refined sugar in the diabetic diet.While make it,suddenly Miss Dila remembered about the role play for the last chapter that should be presented today.She said that `how could you' as we were not mentioning about it to her.Then,Maha and Atiqah presented it.After that,Asyraf and Amar`s turn.They did great.Miss Dilla commented about it and satisfied with it.Then,she told about her final result with the bright face.She got 3.71pointer and on graduation day,she will get special award as she got deccan for every semester.Congratulation to Miss Dilla...I`m so lucky to have you as my lecturer.Back to the lesson,we studied the advise to diabetic person and calculated calories in servings.We explaining to each other about two ways of regulating a diet which were the plate method and substitution method.Miss Dilla left lesson 6 to us as a homework as she had work to do.She just explaining generally about the topic.At about 9.30am,the class ended.Before that,she reminded us to meet her at cemara.When all of us gathered around,Abul gave us Big Apples that was handed by Miss Dilla to celebrate her success.They were delicious and so tasty.Thank you a lot to Miss Dilla for the doughnat.I will not forget it.Wassalam.....

I`d like to examine you and what`s the diagnosis

That`s the title of lesson 3 and 4.In chapter 3,we learned about the requesting and explaining procedures to the patients.For example,could you stand up, please?The right way to explaining procedures such as i am just going to take some blood for testing.Then,we listened to the cd and filled the notes about the height,weight,pulse and others of Mark,the patient that suffering hypoglycemia.We also filled in the blanks in the dialogue between dr. Murray and Robert about Mark`s case.The last one in lesson 3 was presented summary of some cases using medical language.My group got case 1.Charmine Plantz who was sales manager had hyperthyroidism with symptom like insomnia and heat intolerance.She had enlarged thyroid,warm,smooth skin and hair loss.Proceed with lesson 4 ,we knew about some test like glucose tolerance test and urine ketone test.We filled in the blanks to make conversation between Dr Murray and Robert.Next, classified Mark`s treatment plan as either immediate ,ongoing or both actions.Some of the treatment were having annual eye check and monitor thyroid function.We also listened to cd and wrote down five points that Dr Murray told Mark and his mother.The last activity in the textbook was the role-play about explaining to the patient how to recognise and treat disease he suffering in non medical language.Miss Dila gave case 1 to boys and case 2 to girls.The role play will be on the next class.Thus,she asked us to planning and practising it.She left us with the task...

lesson 1 and 2 in unit one

Today,something quite funny happened.We were waiting for Ustaz Faisal but out of blue Miss Dila entered the class.We were all confused but just kept quite.Miss Dila asked us to take out the textbook and read it while waiting for the others.I'm not feeling good about this.So,i was trying to tell Miss Dila about this mistake but i did not know how to with english as i almost said it in kelantanese.Then,Irah told her.She was shocked and apologised us before leaving the class.Then,Miss Dila came again at the right timing.She said that she was sleeping 2hours only last night as she was still a student.'So,what can i do for you' was the topic for lesson 1.We learned how to take a medical history from the patient.The few steps were small talk,family history,sosial history and medication.Small talk must been open ended question.We did the exercise in the book and also walked around the class and make small talk with others.In lesson 2,we make role play for practising the taking of medical history.One student as a doctor and another as a patient.That was really interesting and make me smiled a lot.The class ended with rejoice.Hopefully,i can remember that....

presentation

The day for presentation was arrived.I felt quite confident and not really nervous as my friend did.Maybe because i had prepared and practiced before.The first group presented malay culture or specifically confinement.That topic was interesting as presented in english language.There were new word for me for example,midwife.The presentation ran smoothly without any problem.As they finished,few questions was asked and Miss Dila gave some comment.What i remember,she comment about the voice of the girls that was slow,the colour combination of the slide show,the pronouncation and also eye contact.Some of the girls just looked at the screen and forgetted about the audience.Then,the second group from the boys.Actually,our group wanted to go first but the boys were quick and we lost the chance.They presented egypt culture that was really unfamiliar for me especially about the long history.The words also weird and hard to pronounce it.Next,my group`s turn.Our topic was acupuncure in chinese culture.as i went to the front,i started to feel nervous.But i guess i was able to handle and hide it.That`s for what my friend told me.I was presenting typical acupuncture treatment that was quite long actually but i missed few points as i forgot it when i saw the audience.I guess our topic was very interesting as there were a lot of questions being asked.Poor the last group,they were having some problems with their programming.So,they were asked to use manual method by using the whiteboard.They chose indian culture about ayuverda and herbal treatment.They only take a little time as they were not memorized their points.Lastly,Miss Dila comment about the student`s blog.It must be formal,not too long and not too short.For the next class,she asked us to read unit one in the textbook.That`s all from me today.Wassalam....
